When you use a jobsite via Jobtoolz, cookies are active on it. But what exactly are they and are they important?
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on a user's device when they visit a website. These files contain information that can help improve the user's experience. There are different types of cookies:
- Necessary cookies: These cookies are essential for the basic functionality of your website and cannot be disabled.
- Functional cookies: These are essential for the proper functioning of a website, for example to remember login details.
- Analytical cookies: These cookies are used to collect information about how visitors use a website, such as which pages are most popular.
- Marketing cookies: These are used to show personalised ads to users based on their browsing behaviour.
2. Why is a cookie policy important?
A cookie policy is important because it provides transparency to your website visitors about what data is collected, how it is used and with whom it may be shared. It is an essential part of privacy legislation, such as the European GDPR, and ensures that companies handle personal data responsibly and legally.
3. As a company, are we obliged to have a cookie policy?
Yes, European privacy legislation (GDPR) requires every company to inform visitors about the cookies used and what they are used for. You are responsible for providing a cookie policy that complies with these regulations.
4. How do we upload our cookie policy within Jobtoolz?
Within Jobtoolz, you can upload a PDF file with your cookie policy in the settings. This file is then linked to your jobsite so that visitors can consult it. Here is how you can do this.
5. Can Jobtoolz provide us with a standard cookie policy?
No, Jobtoolz cannot provide a standard cookie policy, as each company may use unique cookies and the content of the policy should match your business activities. We recommend consulting your legal department for a customised cookie policy.
6. What happens if we don't have a cookie policy?
If you do not have a cookie policy in place, you may not comply with GDPR guidelines, which could lead to fines or other legal consequences. It is therefore important that you put this in order as soon as possible.
7. How can visitors change their cookie preferences?
Visitors can change their cookie settings at any time by clicking on the cookie button located in the left-hand corner of your jobsite. This allows them to change their preferences for functional, analytical and marketing cookies.
8. How do we ensure our jobsite is GDPR compliant?
Besides uploading a correct cookie policy, it is important to give visitors the option to give or withdraw their consent for non-essential cookies. The cookie button in our software allows visitors to do this easily via the button at the bottom left of your jobsite.
